the first 30% were good but it’s just so long and soooo repetitive. 200 pages less would’ve made this way better

the person who recommended me this book shouldn’t be allowed to recommended anything ever again.

Its a good read with a hot amount of smut. I appreciated Aspen's realizations about falling in love, in stark contrast with Keene's attempt to be realistic. And how that dynamic flips at the third act. That being said, it lacks emotional depth when they eventually get back together. That whole part seemed rushed and I wanted to mellow in the hurt more before they got back together. I wantes to read more about how they coped and dealt with all the issues instead of a time skip. Good ending of course but I wish we got more time to be sad.

idk why it took aspen so long to realize he was always into keene my man you didn't even hesitate to sext and dirty talk this man to completion with one poorly made dorm room wall between y'all

i had a good time reading this.

Wow, just wow. What did I just read??? 🤯 I think this was the hottest, steamiest romance I've read to date. Granted I don't read very much romance in general, but wowsers. 🥵🔥🌶️

Not only was this book hot af, but it had substance and plot to go with all that steam fogging the metaphorical mirror. This was my first book by this author, but I can assure you I'll definitely be coming back for more!

Aspen and Keene, the besties since toddlerhood, the ride-or-die, and otp for the ages 🫶🏼 I can't begin to describe just how much I loved them and following their journey of self discovery. The sweet things they'd do for each other when they were still only friends: Keene choosing his college just so he could stay near Aspen because he knew that would ease his anxiety, or how Aspen always packed extra socks in Keene's bag for his away games because he knew he'd forget to pack them. There were so many little things they did for each other just as friends that was just the sweetest thing, and had me melting from pretty much the first page 🥹 Oof! Just so stinkin’ cute!

Aspen; our quiet mmc bringing all the bad boy vibes with his aloofness, moody wardrobe, and heart locked away in a vault. I related to him so much on a personal level. His insecurities holding him back from the things he wanted, his struggles to understand life things & know how to fix them without a manual, the difficulties he has in opening up about himself and letting people in, a chronic overthinker, and how he internalizes everything. All of it was just so relatable, which made me love Aspen maybe a bit more than Keene.

Keene; are sweet cinnamon roll & total golden retriever mmc. He’s so unbelievably loyal, the lovable goofball, emotional support friend, a go with the flow, laid back kind of guy who's also very open about everything he's feeling or thinking. He also wears his heart on his sleeve and goes the extra mile to make sure everyone around him is comfortable. He's just so lovable! And the way he's able to draw Aspen out of his own head and learn to grow emotionally is just so sweet and perfect 😭

Honestly this book just blew me away with how much it grabbed me by the throat and held me in a chokehold the entire way through. Again, I'm not a big romance reader as they typically can't hold my interest. The plot usually gets subsumed by the romance, which typically leads to boredom with nonstop steam. I prefer more plot to my steam, or at least a more equal balance. Normally. This book, however? Wowsers. There's a good chunk of steamy scenes and make-out sessions, but it weirdly never felt heavy handed? Like usually that is definitely too much steam for my taste, but somehow this was just perfect. It never felt like it took away from the plot of them learning how they fit together, how to navigate the world while still keeping it secret while also trying to keep up with classes, exams, and Keene's baseball game season, etc. I can't really explain it, but somehow everything in this felt just right to me.

I can honestly say I was really sad when I finished the last page. I could totally do with a whole series with these two adorable lovebirds ❤️‍🔥 I just can't get enough of them and I loved every minute I got to spend with them in this book. It might even go on my “top reads of the year” pile. It was just that good! As I said previously, I'll certainly be picking up more books by this author!

My one and only complaint was how things blew up during the climax. It wasn't quite a miscommunication thing (a trope I seriously can't stand), but it sort of goes in a similar category. How things were handled made me want to cry in frustration 😭 But we got our HEA so I'm happy ☺️ That short stint though has me waffling on giving this a full 5 stars 🌟 or maybe set it to 4.75.

4.25 ⭐️ finished this is one sitting it was so good. Came because of a TikTok video with a random quote but had an AMAZING time! I'm not a huge fan of the "unwilling to commit" type of guy and the fact that they went months of no contact after the 3rd act breakup but I mean I'm will to deal with it because the rest of the book was PERFECTION.

It was alright. The don’t you dare game gets so overdone by the end of the book that if I had the physical copy I would’ve slammed it and said “Thank God!” It had its moments but it took awhile to get through.

A solid romance that takes the time to deal with the issues it invariably brings up. Im not a fan of a third act break up but it didn't make me want to DNF which is a change.
