I couldn't finish this book fast enough. I did zero research on this book before starting so the almost immediate spice in chapter one really got me by surprise. There is A LOT of spice but the story is still present. Dahlia comes off as a little annoying so I had to keep reminding myself that yes her soul is old but she actually isn't. The age gap between women and man vampires isnt my fav, 21 for women and 35 (I think) for men doesn't seem fair but whatever. Can't wait to read/listen to Halle's other work.

I like it as a retelling of dracula and his lost loves. It is a haunting beautiful and exquisite read. It also had some very spicy vampire scenes and sexy moments between the two lovers.
For those who enjoyed the movie Dracula Untold, this book will absolutely satisfy. I usually struggle with vampire stories—they're often too cheesy or lean heavily into smut without a strong plot—but Blood Orange completely subverted my expectations. It basically said, “Hold my beer, I got you,” and delivered.
I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. It had everything I want from a Dracula-inspired tale: a compelling plot, a tragic love story, just the right amount of spice (not over the top, although it seems that way in the beginning. Let it cook), and enough twists and action to keep me fully engaged.
The ending left me a bit heartbroken, but I'm also super excited to see where the story goes in book two. Karina Halle nailed the dark romantic fantasy vibe without falling into cliché, and I’m definitely hooked.
