The writing is beautiful but I found the plot line frustrating and I just became too irritated with the characters to enjoy the book.

È la notte del 21 giugno del 1921, l’ultimo e più sanguinoso anno della guerra d’indipendenza irlandese, e siamo nella contea di Cork, passata alla storia come la Rebel County. Il capitano Everard Gault ferisce involontariamente Horahan, un ragazzo che, assieme a due complici, voleva dar fuoco a Lahardane, la casa dove il militare abita con la moglie Heloise e la figlia Lucy. Not for me. There were a few parts of the story I liked but the classical writing style was not my thing at all.
