It was nice. So sweet. Very easy read. Loved the two main characters like they are so good together. Fun and light.

I personally am giving this an extra star because the dialogue between Nico and Elena is always electric and it takes something special to make simple conversations hit like they do. So many bookmarks. SO many.

Yes the plot is a little weak but once you see the chemistry between those two, who even CARES? Bear in mind that usually books like this are so badly written that I can’t get past the first couple of pages…I was pleasantly surprised when I wanted to read on and binged it all night because I was HOOKED by the will-they-won’t-they (please-do-so-I-can-go-to-sleep)!

I’ve never read a mafia romance before though and it’s honestly impossible to swallow the way their world works. I can understand the murder and the cheating etc because yea, money makes the world go around and sadly that’s always going to be true. The archaic misogyny and double standards? I cringed a lot. Swore a lot. Rolled my eyes a lot. So I really had to ignore the blatant death of feminism whilst reading this, and I know little about Cosa Nostra but the portrayal of it sounds about right so well done to the author for inciting such visceral reactions in me. You don’t shoot the messenger.

Nonna? My literal favourite

Problematic author!

Book itself is a solid 3.5 stars. It had the spice and the fluff. I usually don’t enjoy mafia series but I might pick up the second one bc it has Christian in it.

Reread 2023:
I love how hard Nico fell for Elena once he finally met her. He couldn't help it. He saw her, wanted her, and claimed her.

"I would make this girl want me, need me, love me, because fuck if I was going it alone."

"The worst had happened. I loved the fucking woman. And now my biggest weakness walked outside my body, with soft brown eyes and long black hair. There were a lot of men who would love to hit me in my weak spot; the reason I had never wanted the vulnerability. But what I didn’t expect was this calmness to come with it, this surety that I would fucking die before I let them."

I loved this! I loved Nico, OMG he is yummy. The tension, gahhhh. I will probably read and reread it so many times in the future.
