It’s starts off slow and then suddenly you can’t put this book down. I cried and laughed along with the characters. If you’re gonna read the acotar series this book alone makes it worth it.

Definitely my favorite of the series so far! I love that we finally have a strong Feyre that is both kind and humble but also knows when to stand up for herself and make decisions. Although I understood Feyre needed time to grow in the first two books of the series, her personality and meekness became annoying at times. I prefer to read from the viewpoint of characters I aspire to resemble - and we are definitely getting there with Feyre in this book.

I really loved the way Feyre confronted her savage nature in this book. Both confronts and embraces who she is with an understanding that she is no angel. She seeks revenge, betrays others, kills, and is okay with herself at the end of all of it. Or, at least, is able to mark her mistakes and move forward.  As Feyre comes to realize and states, she loves who she is, especially the bad.

I am very much looking forward to books outside of Feyre’s perspective. Maas has created such complex and interesting characters - especially Lucien and Azriel. This book felt like a neat conclusion for Feyre - and I hope we get to explore a few more perspectives.

This book is all about the war - both setting up for and fighting the war. I love reading about the character’s savagery in war compared to their general selflessness for their chosen family and for those in need. It’s the perfect combination. The amount of action and battle was amazing; however, it is mostly condensed to the end besides a few short bursts. There is a lot of politics leading up to war - necessary, but not always the most exciting reading.

I am interested to see where the series goes from this book. There is a great deal of resolution at the end. We are not left in a cliff hanger like we were at the end of ACOMAF. But generally, I liked the ending and it was as action packed as the ending of the rest of the books in this series.
I did find it a bit unrealistic that no major character died in this war. I believe Amren should not have come back - it felt a bit too clean that both Amren and Rhys die and are resurrected. I did, however, love that unleashing Amren was their saving grace. All the time spent unleashing other gods, and I did not even pick up on the foreshadowing for Amren. Feyre’s father coming back to save the day… in a book about fairies, that felt the most far fetched and out of the blue - almost as if she needed someone important to die so she brought their father back. Other than those gripes, the way the war happened and the coming together of the courts and other allies was perfect.

I half listened to this while watching/reading other media and never missed a thing if that tells you anything about this plot.

This book — this book has my heart. I have never cried so much and so often with a story before — and not all those tears were sad — most of them, in fact, were of joy and love. That love, the compassion, the sacrifice — I won’t be able to let these characters go — not ever. It was all a gift. 🖤

An incredible read that kept me wrapped up in that universe from the first sentence. The last quarter of the book was so captivating that I never wanted put it down. Usually when I say that I loved the last bits of a story, that means the beginning or middle really dragged…that is not the case with this book. Every bit of this book was exciting. There was love: friendship, family, and romantic. There was conflict: inner, interpersonal, and on a global scale. This book had me excited over the politics and battles in a way I haven’t experienced since I was in high school over a decade ago. There was action and humor and heartbreaking sadness and tear jerking joy. This book tied up loose ends and made me feel grateful for everything and everyone I have. I have no notes. Well done, SJM, well done.
