A fun collection overall. As is so common with anthologies, some stories were stronger than others.

I was immediately drawn in from the premise - I mean, who doesn't want to see history as we know it turned on its head and re-imagined (especially when it's done so by some top quality authors)? And on the whole, boy, did they deliver. Obviously, there were always going to be favourites and those I liked less, and in fact I found myself hoping that a couple would be full-length works rather than short stories. Take Updale's The Y2K Bug, for example. Does anyone know of a good read that explores what would have happened if technology had died at the turn of the century? (Hit me up if you do, otherwise I wholly recommend this short story as a way to tame your appetite...) A great collection, well-thought out and presented sensibly. On the whole, well-written and enticing, although there were a couple I found drier and less inspirational or thought-provoking than the others.
