i may give it more a 4.9. but honestly i’m obsessed ! breaker is my fave cane brother ! i’m also a sucker for friends to lovers.

Best friends to lovers, it only took a decade to happen

These Cane brothers are the best and I love their little family/group so much. I love that Breaker has a nerdy side and a business side but mostly his nerdy side. Also, Breaker and Lia’s relationship is so wonderful and I love their jokes and game nights. I believe them being friends first is what will keep them together forever as they are both just know each other well. I love their jokes about Huxley and JP. I loved Breaker’s hatred for JP’s Bloody Mary’s during Sunday Brunch and I love that they have Sunday Brunch. I can’t wait for Penn and Banner’s stories to come.

Enjoyed it enough to finish but

This book took me two weeks to finish. I almost quit halfway through because nothing really happened. And that’s not an exaggeration the characters in the book don’t pine or anything for each other until at least halfway through this book. It just felt like there was so much extra descriptive writing that was unnecessary. It didn’t add to the book it just over describing things that didn’t matter. Like walking into a friends apartment or what was going on in their heads. It just felt like a lot more editing should have been done. And the book was so long already because more than half of the book was just wedding planning for a wedding that didn’t even end up happening. It didn’t feel like a slow burn during the wedding planning, it felt like the author was just trying to get you to dislike the man that Lia was engaged to. The best friend was made to seem nice but that was kind of it so it was hard to imagine this unreal love connection between them because it was never presented to the reader that way. There was not a lot of brooding happening with Breaker while he was helping Lia with wedding planning either. He felt like a friend so he was just happy to be there. I wanted more of a guy who knew he loved her and was mad the whole time thinking about what he would do if it was him she was marrying instead. But they were just friends for half the book. I don’t know I just was not expecting it to be that way and kept waiting for a jump in the timeline for the wedding planning to be coming to a close because it just felt like so long for there to be any romantic feelings towards each other, but it just kept coming and they were still just friends.

The spicy scenes were great and it was a cute book once it finally got there but it was “a long time coming”
