I'm so glad she left out all the unnecessary Harry Potter references in this one.

"Oh, wow, Hell is not going to know what hit it."

On a date where everything goes wrong: tracking down a wayward soul, embarking on a quest for the Holy Grail, and more good vs evil shenanigans The Date from Hell has more fun in store for Callie and Luke in this new-adult romantic adventure sequel. Bonds turns up the heat with some added spice, laugh-out-loud humor, a fantastic cast of characters and some fun surprises. For me, the sequel is even better than the original!

A super fun continuation of this new adult, dual perspective paranormal romance series. In this book Callie and Luke get tasked by the Devil (Luke's dad) with saving a soul in exchange for a favor. Full of adventure, power swapping, more Escape room adventures, a great cast of secondary characters and new found family. I really enjoy these characters and can't wait to see what happens in the next book! Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my advance review copy!! This was also great on audio narrated by Karissa Vacker and Graham Halstead.

CW: includes some steamy open door scenes (best suited for older YA readers)

I received an eARC from Netgalley before I finished the first book and although I made a good faith effort I just had a tough time relating to the characters and situations. It reads like Lucifer fanfic at several points although the plot definitely improved in the second book. The characters read very young for their ages which I think was a problem I had with the writing. It's not all dire-the adventure plot was reasonably engaging but I think there are better paranormal books out there. 3.5 stars.

In The Date from Hell, the sequel to Not Your Average Hot Guy, Callie, Luke, and their friends are on a new quest - to prove that not all people sentenced to hell deserve to be there. Gwenda Bond does an incredible job making a fun, laugh out loud, and action packed adventure with just the right amount of romance for fans of book one.

All they wanted was to go on a date, but Lucifer has another plan for them. They get stuck chasing a wayward soul around Earth trying to prove he's a good guy, but there are a couple wrenches in their plan. Sean, doesn’t have any interest in being redeemed. Instead, he’s decided to try something new and begins the hunt for the Holy Grail.

Callie and Luke, as always are such a good pair, even as they struggle against the powers of hell and insecurity they are stronger together and their trust in each other makes reading even better.

Again, funny with an unexpected ending. Some slow, meh parts.
