Really great overall! I loved the major plot points and tensions. I wanted a bit more out of the ending, and eff Mrs r.

I'm in the minority, but I found this book a bit slow and the constant switching of points of view confused me. Perhaps it was because I was listening to it instead of reading it.

It was a very captivating read. I loved the dynamics between the characters so much, although I am slightly disappointed at how anti-climatic the ending was. But that's more on me just now realizing the ending's been there since the beginning.

Still a book I'd recommend if anyone asks for "spicy family drama" reads. Kudos to Celeste Ng, who is closer to becoming one of my favorite authors.

This book moved in a direction I did not see coming and it really began to pick up pace once the real message of the plot comes through.

One of the best, most beautiful and inspiring stories I’ve read ❤️ I found the characters so moving, deep, and real... And throughout the whole story I just loved the atmosphere of the book. Before, I was looking for a TV series that would have this chill/wholesome/homely vibe, and found it in this book. On top of that, I believe this story gets to the essence of so many contemporary problems, and explores friendship and family life in a beautiful way.

Now I can’t wait to watch the series, I just hope they didn’t mess it up...

Ng has a beautiful writing style, and I was so invested in these two families immediately. I loved watching Mia’s past unfold, and her trust and love for her daughter. I also loved how it was very obvious no one in this book was perfect. Mrs Richardson is laid out to be the Gillian, but Mia clearly had made mistakes of her own, though not as many as her. The only reason it got four stars was because I wanted a firmer resolution for one of the characters, but that’s my own preference, not the authors fault. Still a great read.
