IM OBSESSED with this world!! So much happened in this book  - I loved the introduction of the new characters and plot development and new stakes.
The last chapter was insane!? I’m obsessed and can’t wait to find out how the story resolves itself in the last book.
Overall this trilogy is great I’m so obsessed with the world building the characters the angst the twists - read this series if you haven’t already!

I am really enjoying this series as a whole, but you can definitely tell this is a middle book in a saga where most of the book is spent in inner/external turmoil and not a lot happens in the plot. The last 100 pages blew me away and I couldn’t put it down though! This book feels necessary to introduce important characters, show character development in Alina, and set up for the final conflict in the third book, but it felt slow and was a little bit of a slog to get through. Mal got a bit annoying but as Alina understood him better I guess I did too. And I somehow have a crush on both Nicolai and the Darkling (despite everything).

In th3 second instalment of the Shadow & Bone saga, we get introduced to a new set of characters helping Alina and Mal first to support themselves in exile and then return to Ravka and fight the Darkling. We get more magical creatures (took me until I saw all covers next to each other how brilliantly the cover design ties into the story), we go back to Little Palace and are reunited with some of the Grisha we already met in the first book. I cannot wait to see ho  the story unfolds and concludes in the following book.

I enjoyed this sequel to Shadow and Bone more than the original. It was darker, but the stakes felt more real and I thought the characters began to develop nicely. I still find these books quite generic, which is stopping me from loving the series but I am entertained and excited to read the last one!

Continuing Alina's journey to confront the Darkling, "Siege and Storm" pretty much focuses on her role as the Sun Summoner and her mission to locate other amplifiers.

Following the events of "Shadow and Bone," Alina and Mal are now together. So the book also includes their romance and explores the complexities of their relationship. This addition injects a refreshing twist into the story, a much-needed change from what I found a bit boring.

What I find the most interesting aspect of the book is the introduction of new characters. I like Nikolai and the twins, Tolya and Tamar. Nikolai is pretty charming and with his brilliant mind, he pretty much steals the show. Maybe this book would be more interesting if he appeared more. Tolya and Tamar are also interesting characters; they are strong and unique.

I must admit this book was an improvement from the first one, but I still pretty much skimmed the contents because it was boring. While certainly better, I wouldn't go so far as to label it great—it's just okay. I keep going because I'm curious about the Grishaverse and I want to at least know what happened in each book.
