A nice easy palette cleanser but jeez what a load of crap with an ending that benefits literally nobody? Arguably it benefits the kids but their mum literally isn't their mum
Notable points (SPOILERS)
- Jess knew Dan for two weeks in total. They were completely in love after 7 days of hardly knowing eachother
- WHAT ABOUT JESSICAS PARENTS? THEY HAVE TO GRIEVE FOR NOTHING
- why would you just take on somebody else's life because their kids need you
- Grant's personality changes about 7 times
- Karen basically pressures Jessica into taking on a life that isn't hers. Sure the kids need here but it isn't Jess' problem
- how convenient that Grant is loaded
Such a minor thing but so many typos in this edition too

I somehow managed to slog halfway through this book before I put it down. It was just so fucking *boring*. I quit it when I realised my reaction to having to read it on my commute was âughâ.
The problems I was having with this were:
- the prose was bland and uninspiring
- Jessica didnât seem to have much emotional turmoil about her situation and was very quick to just jump into a mother role and start parenting those kids
- the thing with her boss and that scene in the kitchen. Just. Why. Was that even necessary?
- everything about the packaging of this book told me it was a romance with a HEA but the strong implication that Lauren was dead and Jessica was essentially puppeting her meatsuit wasnât inspiring any confidence in me for a HEA. She canât keep living a double life and clearly sheâs going to find a way to undo the weird body hopping, which is going to devastate an entire family, so⌠eh?
