WHAT. THE. LORD. RULER,
Excuse my incoherent grammar as I try to gather my mindblown thoughts because that was so flippin' amazeballs and nail-biting and hair-wrenching and... Oh gods, how can I continue to live a normal life after reading this?

Let me just say that for the first 40% of the book, I was actually planning to demote this to a 3.5 star rating. Summary: Elend and Vin's complicated love life and winning back a doomed kingdom. Sounds mind-numbing, right?

But then you get to the epic action scenes, war, fights and other things that I shouldn't mention, unless you want a spoil, and it's like you've finally been sucked into the world and your heart sits there ready to be torn into pieces.

I don't spoil a lot but I AM going to say this: too many unnecessary deaths. So many near-death experiences. Thanks a lot Brandon for this 781 paged journey.

What Brando-Sando does, he does extremely well.  But it's standard high fantasy.  There isn't anything here that feels new or different.  Well written, but travels a well worn path.
