I really liked this a lot but God, was it slow and long. If it wasn't for that, the plot was super interesting and intricate and the world was well built

i will admit i wasn’t the biggest fan of book one so i’m being 100% serious when i say i wasn’t expecting to enjoy this one as much as i did.

fantastic sequel, the themes in here were much more interesting to me than those of book one (probably why i liked it better) and i could definitely tell Sanderson’s writing got much better here, especially when it comes to writing his characters, even if i do wish we got to see more of some characters who were basically neglected (Clubs, DOX???).

i love love love the politics and the whole mystery revolving around the mists and the well of ascension was really engaging, this world is so so interesting. and that ENDING. cannot wait to read the sequel!!

As an ex-political science student nothing has brought me as much anguish and suffering as Elend Venture’s system of government.

This book is a really good example of how good reveals and plot twists hit when they’re delivered effectively. It doesn’t feel like anything comes out of nowhere, and the result leaves the reader feeling surprised but satisfied. Also, really fantastic characters. They all feel very deep and real. It’s a pretty gloomy book, though. Leaves off on hella sad vibes; I don’t expect that to change given the series track record. This makes me feel apprehensive about the final installment.

The second book in the Mistborn series. This book is much more political than the first, but I love that. It slows down in the middle, but damn does it pick up in the last 100 pages or so! The groundwork for the third book is obvious, so I guess I have to finish the trilogy now.
The good things: great world building, superbly written action, engaging plot. The magic system continues to intrigue and fascinate me.
The not so good things; sometimes clunky writing, awkward dialogue, runs slow in places. Wish there were more female characters with deeper development.

To summarize the later part of this book which also happens to be the most memorable in two words would be: emotional damage.
