For the second book in a series, I'm impressed with how much I liked this one after finishing them all. There were moments in this book where I was so worried they wouldn't figure something out fast enough that I would read so much faster and have to slow myself down to absorb what was happening. Sazed's development was great, I love him.

fuck me the ending had me screaming. I finished the book at like 1am and had to stay up for another 2 hours just to calm myself down. Absolutely insane I didn't see the twist of the well coming AT ALL. And the best part was that it was all there! I hate books that pull shit out of nowhere but there were breadcrumbs everywhere I just didn't see them. Hot damn.

Brandon Sanderson is excellent at writing about hope and good people. And also making those good people suffer.

<Spoiler>I love Sazed so much and how dare you hurt him so.
I hated Zane, as a person and a character. His toll on Vin was difficult to read and went nowhere. The constant insistence on things he couldn't have known about was frustrating.
The ending left me slack jawed. I'm still in shock. It's the perfect antagonist to these characters.

I loved this second part of the Mistborn series even more than the first book! It expanded the world and brought so many new mysteries and shocks along. I can’t wait to start part three!

Even better than the first! Now they all the worldbuilding is out of the way, we get straight to the action! Great new characters, great character development, even more evil villains, exciting action! Focused a bit too much at points on how sad the characters feel about the death of a certain character in the previous book. I get it! You miss them!

The Well of Ascension is the second book in Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn fantasy trilogy. What I find with this series is that it's just a slight bit style over substance. The characters are varied, I have a clear picture of them and more or less enjoy their presence. The world is interesting and unique; the lore is well thought out; and of course the magic system is fleshed out and intricately explained. However I find that as whole the story lacks a certain warmth. This isn't always a necessity in fantasy and sci-fi - sometimes the author just wants to write out their cool ideas, and there are many in Mistborn. But big plot points often don't carry a weight to them. Sometimes the plot itself is going through motions - and it is VERY apparent in one big subplot. One that I found to be SO contrived and led to situations where things could have worked out if the characters just talked to each other. So, still very novel for its time, but maybe not as enjoyable as the first. 7.5/10.

<spoiler >I am going to finish this entire series but I am SO FRUSTRATED by these characters and their actions. This whole book felt USELESS. Nobody in the kingdom was saved, people were still slaughtered, and the "hero" was just a murderer at the end. The themes of racisms are infuriating,   and the poor in the moment decisions had me taking my hair out. Not to mention Vin, for all her paranoia, fell for every single fucking trick that was thrown at her. What was the point there, showing that trust was useless? She didn't trust a single person that had been there for her, and chose the weird stranger that looked like her boyfriend. Tindwyl was done absolutely dirty in the book, along with some of the other major players from book one. It wasn't that they died, it was that they had a POINTLESS death. Again, I am so frustrated. Because I love the world, the characters, and the lore., and I WILL finish this series. But I don't like Vin and I don't like the decisions.

I really liked this a lot but God, was it slow and long. If it wasn't for that, the plot was super interesting and intricate and the world was well built
