The middle of the book drags and I was planning on taking a break from the series after this book but after the ending I was permanently hooked on the cosmere

Brandon Sanderson is excellent at writing about hope and good people. And also making those good people suffer.

<Spoiler>I love Sazed so much and how dare you hurt him so.
I hated Zane, as a person and a character. His toll on Vin was difficult to read and went nowhere. The constant insistence on things he couldn't have known about was frustrating.
The ending left me slack jawed. I'm still in shock. It's the perfect antagonist to these characters.

I really liked this a lot but God, was it slow and long. If it wasn't for that, the plot was super interesting and intricate and the world was well built

i will admit i wasn’t the biggest fan of book one so i’m being 100% serious when i say i wasn’t expecting to enjoy this one as much as i did.

fantastic sequel, the themes in here were much more interesting to me than those of book one (probably why i liked it better) and i could definitely tell Sanderson’s writing got much better here, especially when it comes to writing his characters, even if i do wish we got to see more of some characters who were basically neglected (Clubs, DOX???).

i love love love the politics and the whole mystery revolving around the mists and the well of ascension was really engaging, this world is so so interesting. and that ENDING. cannot wait to read the sequel!!

This book is a really good example of how good reveals and plot twists hit when they’re delivered effectively. It doesn’t feel like anything comes out of nowhere, and the result leaves the reader feeling surprised but satisfied. Also, really fantastic characters. They all feel very deep and real. It’s a pretty gloomy book, though. Leaves off on hella sad vibes; I don’t expect that to change given the series track record. This makes me feel apprehensive about the final installment.
