However, once it took off the book’s pace sped up considerably.
There was a lot more character development in this book than the first, which I really liked, seeing how the character’s pasts affected how they communicated. And while I usually don’t like the lack of communication trope between couple in books, I felt it was well done between Vin and Elend as they struggled with both inner and external obstacles.
As to the traitor, I didn’t even know who it was until it was revealed, and yet it made so much sense than any other person offered as an alternative.
Additionally, there was overall more world building, as we learn more about the kandra and Koloss, and about the world at large.
And the ending and epilogue???
Wow. I was already starting to see discrepancies between Alendi’s recount and what Sanderson had at the top of each chapter, but it was done so perfectly that I didn’t realise until the very end.
Solid book, cannot wait to read the next one!!!
