The topics covered in this book make me feel angry.

Grace was 15.

It makes me angry, and furious that there are thousands of families experiencing what the Horn family and the Takoda tribe experienced.

In addition to the content, I also struggled to follow the story telling and time-jumping timelines. I couldn’t understand how some of the folklore tied into the story at times.  I also had trouble understanding Anna as a character.

This book is going to stick with me for a while though. A haunting story.

This book was absolutely wonderful with its commentary on a lot of issues. The only thing I felt It lacked was closure. We never get to see if justice is given to the victims and perpetrators which is historically a huge issue in native American crime and violence, but the story that was actually put on the page was absolutely fantastic, thrilling, and complex.

More suspense than straight horror but always moving.

Wow wow wow.

This book is labeled as a thriller, but I don't have any clue how I'd actually classify it... there's so much going on.

I found this book started very slow, and I hated the jumping timeline at first. I vividly remember texting a friend and telling her I hoped the antagonist introduced in the first part of the book wasn't the true antagonist. The book remained slow until roughly 2/3 of the way through - and boy did this book pick up. The jumping timeline made more sense, and the character development was top-notch. I loved the inclusion of native american culture and spirituality. I ended up assuming the true antagonist through character development but I didn't foresee the entire ending. Additionally, there's a note from the author speaking to the struggles of the reservations and where the inspiration for this book came from. Highly recommend. 4/5 stars simply due to how long it took to get into this book.
