This was a rather sweet book. A good easy read without being too 'deep' or too shallow.
While it did have a good ending, I found it a bit sad too. A bit to 'real life' in that sense, I guess. But it was still enjoyable and left me satisfied as a reader.
Its supposed to be a 'retelling' of "Les Miserables", though I didn't see the similarity. Perhaps its been too long since I was acquainted with that story. :)
Would recommend this for anyone wanting a good read.

Why was the mother not arrested?? I agree with many others that the flashbacks/back stories of many characters were completely unnecessary and one was very gory(planet crash). It was definitely darker than I expected and dragged on and on. The drug couple who hijacked the RV seemed completely unnecessary, like this girl needed more trauma. The only redeeming thing was June Bug herself as her character was very endearing and beautifully written. I would not recommend!
This book started off good... I was really enjoying it. Then very slowly the Christian references started popping up more and more. I finally googled it and had I known it was Christian lit I wouldn't have started it. Too many references to god and Christianity that have seemingly NOTHING to do with the plot. Very disappointing. Just thrown in there and had me rolling my eyes. Not even sure if I can finish it, I will probably skim to the end, though I am sure it'll have a neat and tidy ending. Great for those who like that kind of thing, but definitely not for everyone.
It was hard to get into this book. It wasn't bad, but it didn't keep my attention either. Usually I can read a book in a week or so... This took me 5 months to finish!

Loosely based on Les Miserables this was a perfect retelling. It was different enough that it could stand on its own and took the very best ideas from it's predecessor giving them a modern spin. Lovely.

Interesting read. Before I get into my review, I am a Christian, go to church every Sunday, involved whenever I can be and kids go to church with me. That being said there were quite a few parts of this story that I felt putting God in there was super forced and didn’t flow. Overall message was good and a good read but that kind of bugged me. I suppose maybe it’s because it is a children/YA author that it has to be super simplified. So just know that while you read. Also be prepared to read WALMART a million times because it’s mentioned constantly, almost like an advertisement.
This was a good book. At times it did seem like it was kind of drawn out but still enjoyable, none the less. June Bug was an interesting little lady with red hair. Her Dad loved her very much. It was sad at the end when she got to go home to her grandparents but sad that she was away from the only Daddy she had ever known. I will think about this book a long time to come.
I've read Fabry's "Almost Heaven" and "Not In the Heart" and liked them both, but "June Bug" was a disappointment. It's a little too unrealistic and events are a little too forced. My overall impression is that he just tried too hard to make the story work.
