This book was SO good! The Devil at His Elbow pulled me in right away and kept me hooked the whole time.
The way the author told the story made it super easy to follow but still really interesting. I learned a lot, and it never got boring. The court part was my favorite! I felt like I was actually there watching it all happen.

Truly fascinating and extremely well-written. This is one of the best True Crime books in a very long time.

Superbly written deep dive into the bizarre Murdaugh murder case. I was vaguely aware of the general details, but I didn't realize how prominent or criminal Alex Murdaugh's father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Bauerlein does a great job of fleshing out the family's crooked history while also relating an incredibly convoluted series of events involving the modern-day members. She also does a good job of being evenhanded and not wallowing in the more sensational details, while also not shying away from relating them.
