Yes, the title of this is ridiculous. Welcome to historical romances!! I loved this (though if I was being fair I'd say this is book is more of a 3.75) and really am tempted to blow my way through the whole series in lieu of working. Callie is absolutely one of  my favorite heroines - she's got this uncanny ability to assert herself and I loved watching her confidence grow throughout the novel. And while I bought why Ralston fell for her, I wasn't as convinced as to why Callie loved him, beyond a youthful infatuation.  There's also some toxic masculinity things (beautiful dresses aren't only designed to be taken off, thank you very much), but overall I did really love their story and am immediate requesting the next one.

One of my most favorite romances I have read this year; I loved that Callie is a plump heroine whose bravery is the source of the romance! The virgin/rake trope is strong in this book which isn’t normally my favorite but I thought it was well handled. The Shakespearean nods to cross-dress disguises were also particularly delightful.
