Ian Mortimer takes a long, hard look at Restoration Britain, not shying away from the murder, sexual assault, slavery, sexism, racism, animal cruelty, and economic disparity that characterized the time period. It would be a four star read, but I know at least some of his dress history information is incorrect, from more narrow histories of just historical dress. This means basically everything else needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
