There was so much potential for this book, but the second half really fell short for me. I could see where the author was trying to go with it, but there were too many times where sentences were being dragged on, describing things that didn’t move the story along. I feel bad for giving it the rating I am, as the ending shows the personal level of this story. I would give the author another chance if he published more books, as I think this one was a stepping stone.

It’s very hard to give this book a rating. It’s a good book, i would recommend it selectively. But how can a journey so personal be given a 1-5 rating? I fell in love with the writing, I’ve lived through the themes brought up. I’m glad that the author wrote this book. I’m glad it was shared.

(I received this book in a StoryGraph giveaway).
Being a psychologist (who actually cares for their clients) I don’t know what intrigued me to try and read this - the switch from ‘happy with job’ to ‘happy to let people die’ happens so suddenly and unnaturally and then a penis is referred to as a ‘member’ and I couldn’t do it anymore

not exactly sure what to write in this review. Jay works for a suicide prevention hotline and one day decides he is going to use his training to convince people to kill themselves. At times the story seems stream of consciousness. At time it is tricky to figure out who is speaking as the author doesn't use quotes or write Jay says or Joseph says. The last chapter totally confused me and therefore ending was just meh. Not a rating of 1 but also not a recommend
