One needs to suspend belief to truly enjoy this series. Yet, they are very enjoyable. Fast moving, suspenseful all the way through. Jane is my kind of hero.

I'd give this 3.5 stars but rounded up. I had read the first three books in this series a long time ago and just recently became aware that three more books have been written since. These are enjoyable but not amazing. I kind of wish they'd get to the point quicker and in this book in particular it ended quite suddenly.

Thomas Perry writes a ripping good suspense novel and I love the Jane Whitefield series. They make for a great "listen"!

Very curious to see how Jane is going to manage in the world of technology. This book is copyright 1998. There's a new one coming out in November.

Thomas Perry is one of my all-time favorite writers. His non-Jane Whitefield thrillers are among the best. The first three Jane Whitefields are good. This one is just way way too long. By about 100-150 pages too long. There are so many unneeded digressions, so much minute detail, that whatever suspense starts to build is flattened. Just as some people can't see the forest through the trees, you can lose the plot through all the tiny details. The next two Whitefields are about the same length as this one.
