I liked it. It was very sweet. This series is definitely a lot darker than the Carsington. But still it was really sweet. The main characters are super likeable. And it was incredibly well written as usual. I guess it was just a bit uneventful. I was also disappointed that Dain and Jess barely make an appearance. There’s a scene between Dain and Dorian but none between Jess and Gwen. I was expecting and hoping for more banter between the four of them. I also didn’t like that a lot of the sex scenes just fade to black. And the story ended a bit abruptly for me. But I still really enjoyed this story and the dark gloomy vibe.

This was really really lovely. Exactly what I was looking for in a novella. I rounded down because it only really had one sex scene and I thought it could use another (greedy me...) but all in all it was fun and serious and heartwarming.

Loretta Chase has to be one of my absolute favorite historical romance authors. I fell in love with her with her Scoundrels series and am just so tickled that they re-released the novella The Mad Earl’s Bride especially since I missed it the first time around. Dorian is the last in his family’s line and he’s dying. He’s suffering the same symptoms as his mother before her untimely demise so he just wants to live his last few months quietly in the country. But when distant cousins come knocking on his door with a bride in tow, he just can’t seem to get rid of them. Gwendolyn knows all about Dorian and realizes that her time with him will be limited. But as a spinster she doesn’t think she’ll have another chance at her dreams and Dorian is just the solution she needs. These two form an almost instant bond, Gwendolyn to achieve her dreams, Dorian to get the pesky extended family out of his hair. As they get to know each other Gwendolyn realizes that only months isn’t enough time with Dorian and does what she can to heal him. Quick fun read from one of my favorites!

Lovely, but so very bittersweet. Bertie Trent makes a return appearance and it's nice to see Dain (Lord of Scoundrels) again (don't see much of Jessica, unfortunately for us). Bertie Trent also makes an extended appearance.

This is a sweet, heartbreakingly happy book. The hero and heroine form a paragon of a loving couple who respect and admire each other. It is wholesome and will make your heart full.

Definitely noticeable that it was published in ‘95 but as always Loretta Chase is charming and a pleasure to read

I like a level headed heroine! Her interest in medicine was very brave in her day!
