DNF. Maybe I would enjoy this more if I hadn't listened to the audiobook. The chapters feel so disjointed and I haven't laughed out loud once.

I thought Mindy was really funny in this book. She kept the topics light and interesting while throwing in her own comedic aspect to it. It was an enjoyable read for a lazy day. Nothing really to get out of it but fun knowing other people have done some weird stuff and had some crazy experiences too.

I laughed aloud a few times at the start. The rest of the book left me liking Mindy and believing that we could be friends. It was light and fun and cute.
funny informative fast-paced

I like Mindy, her writing is effortless

I didn't hate this book, but I didn't love it either. It was weird reading a memoir by someone who's only a year older than me.
When I picked this book up, I was hoping for lots of laughs, but all I got out of it were a few snickers. I finished the book in the hope that the laughs were yet to come, but they never did. I could relate to her dorky youth, but beyond that I just don't think I was her intended audience. Though, I like The Office and appreciate some of her writing; I'm not a shopohalic, I don't find race humor funny 99% of the time and I find her obsession with her size a bit disturbing. She's like that annoying girl in high school who always looked pretty that was always saying, "Oh, my god you guys! I'm so fat!!" causing everyone around her to either roll their eyes or give the coveted response, "No, you're not. You're gorgeous!" I've had body issues, too, what woman hasn't? I just have never been one of those women who sought validation in others.
Throughout the book she keeps saying things 'in case teenage girls are reading' and some of her advice is sound, but I don't think the obsession over her body image sets a healthy example or that dieting should really be anyones hobby. I know she's trying to be funny, but it's just not.
I guess I was hoping she was less like the Kelly Kapoor character on The Office. While she's definitely more intelligent than Kelly and doesn't seem quite as crazy, they seem to have a lot in common
and Kelly is one of my least favorite characters on the show.

I enjoyed reading this! She is so quirky and her writing style makes me feel like I'm talking to a girlfriend over a bottle of wine. I love how relatable and genuine she is in her stories, especially regarding body image.

What insufferable garbage.

I LOVE Mindy Kaling's characters.

But apparently that's it.

She makes pronouncements about marriage having never been married, and makes statements about relationships akin to what a middle schooler believes about love. She is a child commenting on mature love and it is super evident in this book.

She writes in skits, NOT short stories, and the skits suck.

Blech...

So glad I'm done with this drivel. At least it was short?
