Love the illustrations but the story reads more like a fictional tale than a biography.

Storytelling was a bit dry, but I loved the illustrations! There's so much texture in Junyi Wu's method and her style is very cute.

Biography of Beatrix Potter, discouraged scientist and famous children's book author. Careful pastel illustrations show Beatrix growing up fascinated with nature and especially fungus, and we watch her study them carefully with microscopes and detailed drawings, until she becomes one of the first to understand the spore cycle and manages to grow them. She presents her work to the scientists, but they shoo her away because she wears dresses. And then, after her first paper is actually considered but then rejected (needs work) she.... quits. And goes off to write the famous books starting with [b:The Tale of Peter Rabbit|19321|The Tale of Peter Rabbit|Beatrix Potter|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1485118382l/19321._SX50_.jpg|644171].

I like the books; it's got good illustrations and tells the story of a little known aspect of Potter, but the story itself is unsatisfactory because no one knows why she quit. So it's a mystery. So fun read, but the subject isn't enough to be fascinating.
