The actual plot of these books is interesting, but Lucy doesn't feel like a real character despite being the narrator. She adds no personality to her narration at all, and much of the time it feels like she is more of a neutral observer in the plot rather than an active participant. I will probably continue with the series, but I wish Lucy's head was more interesting to be in.
Graphic: Violence, Death, and Fatphobia
Moderate: Fire/Fire injury, Gore, and Injury/Injury detail

it's interesting to see the minute or explicit divergences that the show made from this book (compared to the first book in the series)... i think i generally appreciate the changes they made to increase tension/enhance the internal conflict george is experiencing post-exposure to the bone glass
Graphic: Death
Moderate: Gore and Body horror

Lockwood steals my heart again. Lucy and George were especially amazing in this book. It was a tad slow here and there but the climax and the general mystery of the miror and the skull made up for it
Graphic: Fatphobia, Gore, Murder, and Violence
