So cute, so fun, absolutely flew through this book. I normally don't love a no-spice, no-swearing, not-a-lot-of-kissing romance book because it feels juvenile and unrealistic but I completely bought it for this one. To be honest, I didn't even really notice that the characters weren't swearing and there wasn't any outright intimacy besides kissing between Hannah and Jack (which is a testament to the writing and story-building). I'm almost positive this is my first Katherine Center book and I definitely want to read more. I do wish we had more content of Hannah and Jack once they were together, but I loved seeing her assimilate to his family and start to really care not just about Jack but also his entire family. Overall, Hannah's character arc was well done and she was a fully fleshed out character. Also, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to Katherine Center for giving Hannah some self-respect and not letting her rebound with Robby OR completely forgive Taylor. They didn't deserve Hannah!!!!
I will say the romance felt a tad rushed. Hannah had barely felt an inkling of a crush towards Jack, then all the sudden she was saying she was in love with him. The ending section with Wilbur was totally weird and out of left field, but it was so on brand for a "bodyguard romance" (if that's even a trope in romance novels).

The line “i hate myself so much for not being loved” bumped this up half a point for me but the preachiness at the end brought it down.

Some parts are a bit predictable, but others are sweet, sad, surprising, and absolutely wild.

Okay I love Jack and Hannah & I love how real they felt. I read this stupidly fast because it was like watching a movie. I’m definitely going to read more books by Katherine Center in the future.

This was silly fun, but Bratz/fashion dolls did not deserve the stray criticism they got here!

Everything about those dolls and
Kennedy
felt so... 2010's feminism.

“What was I allergic to? I was allergic to disappointment. I was allergic to betrayal. I was allergic to friendship. To hope. To optimism. To life, to work, to humanity in general.
And so I just answered with, ‘I’m allergic to everything,’ and I walked out of the garage.”

Hannah is very squish (and the best kind of petty)
Kelly, Doc, and Connie are also squish.
But Jack—Jack Cinnamon-Roll Stapleton—is THE squishiest. Find me an H more babie than this mf. You can’t.
