I was hoping for more with this one, although I didn't know much about it. I'd never read the author before, so after I saw this one posted a few times here and on FB, I figured I'd give it a read.

The book jumps right in with some friends in an odd place, with mentions of a parachute, until something peculiar happens to one of them. After that the pace moves by at lightnight speed, never really spending any time expanding on the characters, location, etc.

The story has potential, but seems to move too quickly. There isn't any true character building, and the plot moves along at a choppy paces. I felt like there could have been so much more to tell, yet it never happened.

While I generally like novellas, this one lacked something to make it memorable.

It's a 2.25 for me.

Omg so I stayed up till 1 am to read and review this book. I just finished, and it was such an amazing  read. I want more.....
This book follows a group of friends who are going to college soon or onto other things, and they wanted to have one last get-together  before it all. Their fave hideout  is an abandoned elementary  school. Without giving too many spoilers, they find an old parachute  and decide to have fun with it like old times. But something  happens.... something unpredictable... something very sinister is going on. I found this almost magical  with horror elements, and I want more of it .
Well done, you get all the stars 🌟

Oh I would recommend this one if you want a quick scare, and I especially liked the ending.

Thank you to the author for providing a review copy.

What a cool and unique book this was! It's fast-paced, frantic almost. I found myself wanting to skip ahead just to find out what happens next. It even gave me a bit of real-world anxiety. If gore isn't your thing, this would be a good choice. It's there, just not prevalent. The ending was fantastic. The whole book was absolutely compelling.

For such a quick read Parachute contains a lot of story while not skipping characterization. I really enjoyed the nostalgia aspect of it and the ending was just chef's kiss!

4.5 rounded up.

What happens when a night out with your friends turns out to be a nightmare?

Angela and her friends meet and decide to hang out on the roof of an old elementary school as they figure out what to do with their lives, smoking and gazing at the stars. As they decide to break into the building they find a parachute, that was used as a game in school and decide to reminisce and play. What happens next is out of anyone's possible imagination and their lives are changed forever!

This novella managed to transform an innocent game into a weird trip into crazy land where nothing makes sense and every time they go in the parachute something horrible happens!

Although I would have liked some parts to be expanded, I can see why the book was written in that way and I think it managed to create a dreadful atmosphere in a few pages.

I enjoyed also the late 90s vibes and made me remember when me and my friends used to meet and be together without any phones, talking to each other stargazing, with our baggy jeans, young and happy.

So, do you want to see what happens in the parachute?

Thanks to the author for a copy and this is my honest review.
