Slower beginning and then it all kicked off near the end. A little bit confusing because different timelines are being told at the same time however it was definitely told in a creative and interesting way.

This book was not my favorite. The plot twist was definitely not expected, but I was expecting something bigger. Cadence, the main character, is really annoying. She is just obsessed over Gat and is really seaking for sympathy a lot of the time. The character development was also nonexistent. The rest of the characters didn’t make me feel attached into the book. The writing style was also very different from what Im used to, and I did like the writing style in the middle to the end, but in the beginning it was super confusing. This book is pretty faced paced and it is short, so if you want to just read to get it off of your tbr, then I guess you could read it.

While I enjoyed the author’s use of imagery and metaphor throughout the novel, I found the writing style just wasn’t for me. The language came across somewhat pretentious and like it was trying too hard at times. At other times, I read some of the most creative and beautiful descriptions of grief and pain I’ve ever read, so I do have some mixed feelings about the book.

While I wanted to like the characters, I just couldn’t connect with any of them. I was able to predict the plot due to some clever foreshadowing by the author, but based on reviews I have seen I was expecting something mind blowing. Overall, a good enough read, but will not go on my list of favorites.
