Following Aurora as she moves back to her childhood hometown to find herself after her breakup from 14 year relationship, we get to see how she falls in love with this town and her landlord at the same time. This was a beautifully written love story that was also so much more. We get to see Aurora find herself after being in someone else’s shadow for so long and we get to watch Rhodes start to live his own life outside of being a dad. All of the characters were fleshed out and felt like real people. I also loved that our main characters were older than most romance novels and you could tell in the way they were acting as well. I had heard Mariana Zapata writes slow burn but I don’t know if I was prepared for this. This book is over 500 pages long and the main characters don’t get together until 85% mark.

I would give it 100 stars if I could. This book has literally all my favorite tropes all wrapped up in 1 book. I love a MZ slow burn so much 😍 and she knows how to craft characters. I love love that Aurora and Tobias formed a strong friendship before they got together. And her relationship with Amos was just so beautiful. And Rhodes’s lil nicknames were so freakingggggggg adorable. Kulti for the longest time has been my absolute fave fave favorite Mariana book but it has been dethroned I think❤️❤️

I want to give this one four stars, but it's only going to have to be three because I just seemed to struggle through the first 50-60% of the book before I found myself getting really hooked on it. It is written really well and lays out the foundations for the main character, but I just struggled to connect with the story for some reason and found myself just having to push through. *For me* I think knowing Ora's background with her husband from earlier on because I just found myself distracted by trying to work out what exactly the situation was. So since I had to push myself though I can only leave it at 3 stars.

However, that said once I did get hooked I began to really enjoy it, I'm a fan of a slow-burn anyway but the way this was phased out and written was just so nice, and the way the romance was presented and vocalised by the characters was beautiful. Equally, the way that death is talked about in this book is truly beautiful and did get a small tear out of me at one point. I did think though it seemed a bit rushed towards the end, I would have liked to have seen more romance unfold between the MMM and the MFM but I get there were other ties to close up to conclude the book.

Like I said, great book and it is still highly enjoyable I would recommend it to someone else, but I just really struggled with the first half and I think that's more down to me than the writing or the story.
