I really loved this book, it was a refreshing teenage viewpoint when I’ve read so many woe-is-me ya over the years. Lois is fierce and determined without viewing other girls as a threat (and instead builds them up and supports and protects them, which makes me delightfully happy!) She also clearly comes from a loving family that she does occasionally butt heads with but is ultimately close to, another thing I really liked.
I also really liked that we had Clark in the background supporting her even though we don’t get to see him (yet). Their interactions were adorable and a joy to watch unfold (otp for life ;))
I’m very much looking forward to reading the next one!

This was such a solid read! And since I was told today that the second is even better, I say: keep it coming.
Book Review - Fallout (Lois Lane) by Gwenda Bond Now that Amazon has a selection of books available to read for free for Prime members, I've been going through the categories that interest me to find new material. Obviously, a book about Lois Lane would do that. In this case, Fallout is about a teenage Lois in high school, though her nosy reporter skills are in full effect. She's attended several schools, thanks both to her military father moving around, and her own knack for finding trouble and being disruptive, but now she's just trying to keep her head down. But when a group of kids obsessed with a strange VR war game start bullying and harassing other students both in and out of the game, Lois just can't resist investigating the just why the principal seems to let it all slide.
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this. The characters are just what you'd expect from a younger Lois and her family (General Lane sounds exactly like the military dads I know) and the bullying feels real. It's fun to see Lois get her start at the Daily Planet and Perry White, even if it's a bit eye-rolling that she's also internet friends with a certain "SmallvilleGuy".
Fallout is a great gateway for comics-reading teens to a full-length prose novel, but would still be enjoyable even if the kid in question is only dimly aware of who the heck lives in Smallville.

Fallout (Lois Lane) is a fantastically fun read. Lois is smart, cool, witty, and brave. She sticks up for the downtrodden and she fights against injustice despite any obstacles that come her way. So, she's a solid hero.
LOIS LANE by Gwenda Bond is a book that has been on my to-read list for a while, and I was terrified to start it because I was afraid of disappointment.
In LOIS LANE, we meet Lois as a teenager starting a new school and resolving to stay out of trouble, make some friends, and really settle into her new life in Metropolis after moving constantly due to her dad's position in the Army.
On the first day at her new high school, Lois stumbles onto a bullying problem at her school and accepts a position as a student reporter that gives her the opportunity to investigate and take of that problem.
And so it begins...
First, let it be known that I love comic books (though I'm not the committed fan like a lot of my family members), and I love many of the strong female characters that can be found in them despite a lot of the sexist crap that exists in the comic book world. So I had incredibly high hopes for LOIS LANE--especially knowing that an author that I know and like was writing it.
That said, I confess that I was a little concerned for the first few chapters of LOIS LANE. I couldn't get into the rhythm of the book, and I was afraid it was going to be another YA book with a bit of action and a LOT of love story.
Thank goodness that ended up not being the case. Once the setting of the story was established, LOIS LANE was almost non-stop action and suspense. There were moments when the story slowed a bit, and I didn't like the contribution of Superman (Smallville Guy) to the story, but overall, this was a really good addition to the YA action genre and I look forward to the next in what I hope will be a series.
All of that said, I'll be sending my copy to my older sister who IS a comic book fan, and I'll be really curious to hear her thoughts on the book. Stay tuned!

I’ve never been the biggest fan of Supermen, I mean his cool and all, but Lois Lane is way cooler so when I found out she had her own book were she was the hero and Superman was the sidekick I was exited and I had to read it. The characters are definitely the best part their all fantastic Lois is obviously the most fantastic this is her story after all she’s snarky, determined and generally awesome I loved her adorable conversations with SmallevillGuy I couldn’t stop smiling at their cuteness.
I did have some problems with the story everything seemed to easy and unrealistic. I liked the fast pace, I love the writing its a very fun quick read and even though the story wasn't amazing the character were so it was very enjoyable and I’m definitely going to read the next books I want to read about all the adventures that are in store Lois and her friends.

Definitely YA. Bit cheesy. Too much worrying about whether her friends will still like her or not. But still a fun plot & reimagining of Lois Lane (& young Clark Kent) in modern times.
You say Superman, I'm all in. All the time.
Welcome to alternate world where Clark Kent is still in Smallville, is a college goer and Lois Lane is in Metropolis. She and Clark are virtual buddies who met on a conspiracy board and well, have been pretty good friends so far. She also doesn't know his secret.
This book is more about Lois than about Clark. He's her sidekick. So when Lois finds something intriguing in her new college, she does what she always does. She gets into trouble and starts writing the truth.
A fast paced teen action novel, this is great for a quick read if you're a Lois Lane fan. Or a Supe fan, although we will have to check the rest of the books to see if Smallville actually wears the cape.
