Frankly, I could not get very far into this work (I barely reached 50 pages) because of how "anime" it felt. As I read, it seemed like the characters were all so larger than life, all so wacky and zany, that it was begging for an anime adapatation down the line. This measure of unreality soured the work for me, along with its glacial pace. There are better, more grounded offerings in the healing fiction/cozy fiction genre.

A great readalike for other similar uplit like We'll Prescribe You a Cat or Before the Coffee Gets Cold but definitely most similar to Yeonnam-Dong's Smiley Laundromat. Another seeming series of vignettes that paint a larger picture of a community centered around this convenience store.

3.75 out of 5 stars: This was a sweet cozy slice of life slow paced read following multiple characters and their perspectives. This book was about following and finding your path and passion. The small acts of kindness can matter to others and seeing your loved ones in a new light.

I adore Japanese fiction and this book is now one of my favorites! The perfect blend of heart and humor, I loved watching the stories of these characters intertwine as they each learn about the healing power of community, food, and one ridiculously charismatic store manager.
The translation was smooth, the narrator a delight and the chapters ended right when they needed to. No additional notes from me!
