I loved this book so much! It’s a very cosy read. It really shows how imperative a convenience store is and how important convenience store employees are.

This book was so beautifully written. I loved the format!

It was a lighter read but still highlighted a lot of issues most people face and wonderfully showed how we can be better people, for ourselves and others.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

I cannot wait for the other books in this series to be translated to English.

The Convenience Store by the Sea was just what I needed to lift my spirits. It’s super whimsical, and all the characters are so lovely. I especially loved the chapter about the girl who always just went with the flow until she finally decided to do her own thing. Something about that quiet kind of bravery really stuck with me. I tried to read this one slowly because I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to the characters. I ended up really loving it… even if it made my stomach grumble more than once. *tee-hee!*

This is a charming little book that I enjoyed as part of my pre-trip reading to get into the Japan vibe. It offers a collection of stories centered around a convenience store and the various people connected to it in different ways. While the concept is appealing and the atmosphere has that familiar Japanese charm I have to admit it didn’t leave a lasting impression. It’s not particularly cozy or emotionally impactful but more of a light, breezy read than something that stays with you. I’d recommend it as a refresher between heavier books, but don’t expect to be deeply moved or blown away.
