I really liked this for the most part. It was more so like a slice of life, just having a little peek at the lives of the various people in this town. A handful of the stories were really touching to me personally and did get me a bit misty-eyed. This isn’t typically my type of story-telling. I prefer to have a main plot and goal that the characters can focus on achieving throughout the story, but despite this book not following that format I really really enjoyed it. It really felt like I was a fly on the wall following someone around for a bit then moving on to the next person to see what kind of life lesson they learn and so on, if that makes sense.

This translated Japanese novel was cozy, slower paced and low stakes. I appreciated how things came together in the end but it did drag a bit in the middle.

There are many quotes and meaningful messages in this book that can motivate you and make you reflect on life. This book also often includes scenes about food, which are so detailed that they always make me feel hungry while reading haha!

I didn't realize that each chapter focused on a different side character, so I was really confused at first. But once I figured that out, I enjoyed it. I do think there was a little bit of a disconnect for me culture wise.
