Another lovely contribution to the Seven Circles universe, Kerri Maniscalco has expanded on Envy’s story, which I was personally dying to learn more about after finishing the Kingdom of the Wicked series. This tale is full of games, deception, and yes, lots of heated romance. While I think there were a number of plot holes, the characters were so compelling that it didn’t matter much to me. Highly suggest reading, especially if you miss the Kingdom of the Wicked universe, as there are many callbacks!

I knew Camilla was not just human, but I did not expect Kitty was also fae and she was the friend sent by Lennox! I really like this book. It carried a different vibe than all Kerri's previous work and I would love to continue reading her other books happened in this universe, especially those about Envy and Wrath's other sinful brothers. The only thing that bothered me was how Waverly Green got totally forgotten for the remaining 2/3 of the book. I understand that more actions needed to happen at the Seven Circles or Unseelie Court as the game went on. However since we already spent more than 100 pages learning about Waverly Green as a place and those people who lived there, it felt like a waste of time and pages if we just abandoned this location all of a sudden.

Heat: 🔥🔥 (Even those princes were called wicked princes, their actions were actually not as wicked as some of the dark romance you might read on the market.)

Holy SPICE! I mean I’m here for it, and I know this is Kerri’s debut into adult fantasy but man oh MAN! What a shift form the Kingdom of the Wicked series. I was a little tentative about a stand-alone for Envy but I LOVED it. The mystery of it all, the riddles, the games, the banter. DAMN! Like yes, please. I thought some things were a bit drawn out, like the mystery about Camilla herself, and I sort of guessed her parentage but it was still such a juicy reward to get that confirmation. Hope to see more of Camilla and Envy in future books - I know they’ll be side characters but god I love their witty back-and-forth.

After the incredible let down that was Kingdom of the Feared, I was a bit apprehensive to read this book. I was, however, pleasantly surprised. I loved the juxtaposition between the Regency England-esque human realm and the underworld. Where I think the Kingdom trilogy found itself awkwardly straddling between YA and adult, Throne of the Fallen is undoubtedly an adult novel, and suitably spicy to match.

🌶️🌶️ very spicy
It did have a good plot and the s*x scenes were adding to the plot. I just wasn’t ready for how descriptive it was as I didn’t usually read that spice level in books
