OG was 4.5 stars but after thinking this is def 5 star status.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Not that I expected the book to be bad but Brother’s best friend is usually a 3 star at most for me because I don’t love the secret relationship aspect (to anxious for that lmao). However, this is easily in my top 5 favorites of the BBF trope because it was done so well. I adore Felix, I knew I would but seeing him turn into a simp was the best thing ever. I liked Molly as well, she was a strong character and she didn’t take anyone’s shit including Felix’s lol. The third act conflict dropped this from a full five stars for me personally just because it felt like self-sabotage on Molly’s end and I was rolling my eyes at her a little. She did make up for it but truly just wished she listened to what Felix was saying the ENTIRE book. Overall this was a very enjoyable read and makes me reconsider my stance on BBF, maybe I am just not reading the right ones. Adore this series and Lulu’s writing in general. Excited for Huck’s book next month!

Felix Cleverly is in my book boyfriend hall of fame. For all my love of Alex Winters, Sam Brennan, Bennett Mazzone, Dillon O’Donoghue and all the rest, Felix went directly to the top five. He’s so devoted to Molly and so determined to shower her with love, it’s amazing. And Molly is great, I loved everything about her and have no complaints, but this is dual POV and seeing it through Felix’s eyes is hawt with a capital H.

They’ve been friends for more than a decade and both have nursed secret crushes the entire time. Only post-surgery anesthesia gives Felix the nerve to finally kiss Molly and it’s even better than he expected, but then she starts avoiding him. Molly doesn’t think he remembers their kiss and although she’s wanted Felix forever, she’s worked her ass off to be one of the best orthopedic surgeons in NYC and her job is extremely demanding.

There’s no time for a social life and her relationships never last more than a few months. He says he understands her seventy-hour work weeks and the need to skip out on plans last minute, but Molly knows that won’t last forever. Everyone professes to understand but the reality of living it is tough and every guy bails eventually, because of her job.

Molly wants to stop this before they really start. She needs to protect her heart from guaranteed devastation because finally having Felix means she has everything she’s ever wanted but losing him would crush her. Felix would never walk away but he can’t make her see. Molly is his everything and nothing matters more. But when he finally convinces her to give them a shot, a career curveball comes along to throw Molly’s world into chaos. She knows she can’t have it all because there’s just not enough time in the day, but does she give up her dream job or her dream man?

Their story is so romantic and sweet, I couldn’t get enough of these two. This author is new to me but I can’t wait to read more from her. I loved Molly and Felix and couldn’t get enough of their story.

Felix and Molly are so cute! She’s loved him from the very beginning, but he never noticed her. After his accident, he’s haunted by a kiss and realizes maybe she’s more than just his best friend. Molly has a lot of insecurities about being a partner and Felix just crashes through them all. I really loved how much they fought for each other!

Book 4 of the New York Players series by Lulu Moore. I really enjoyed that this book had a rich background in these character’s relationships. While books 1-3 were more on the insta side of love, this relationship was 12 years in the making. This book also introduced the progression into retirement/coaching of some of the characters in books 1-4. It felt like there were three distinctive portions of this book, and only ⅓ had to do solely with their relationship. It was (1) the relationship between Felix and Molly, (2) Freddie-of book 2-having a baby, and (3) the players career timelines/plans. While this was a lot to incorporate/introduce I thought it was handled really well. The first bit of the book was a little wobbly with Felix coming in and out of consciousness and his confusion surrounding Molly’s avoidance. Based on the way it was written, it left the reader a little confused as well. Had book 3 not prepared me for Felix’s loopiness(these books have overlapping timelines) it would have been frustrating.
