I really enjoyed this novel. It has elements of suspense, thriller, family ties, drama, and romance! The author has an incredible voice and wrote phenomenal and complex characters. I look forward to future novels from this author!!

I don’t know what I expected but it wasn’t this, in a good way. This book is so brutal, raw, and exposes the horror of war and occupied territories. All of the characters are very well written and pulled at my heartstrings with every chapter. I also enjoyed the different perspective of WWII and how it affected Malaya, now Malaysia.
