Rachel Adler has a job that some sports fans would envy. Gabe Torres has lots of friends but still seems alone. They have friends, Kellan and Camille, are two people that I would love in my life. But they become a good part to the story that becomes unfair to both Rachel and Gabe. When you get toward the end, you may understand why I liked them so much.

We have two people that have secrets. Their secrets may be different but they are there never the less. How would you feel if someone wasn’t truly honest with you? The author makes things work and she’s good at creating scenes that seamlessly move from one to the next. My problem became that I always looked forward to seeing her secondary characters make their appearance. I know that the author writes a connection for these two but I just didn’t feel it. There was also a slightly less than honorable character. I also looked forward to seeing what he was going to do because it involved both our characters.

Just because I didn’t like this book as much as some doesn’t mean that I’m not ready to say that I’m not going to read more from this author. Gabe has a couple of friends Ben and Ryan. They were an interesting couple to see here and I’d like to check out more of their story. I’ve added Ms. Hayley’s book The Proposition to my TBR list so that some point I’ll see how they connect with Gabe.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

I wanted to like this book. I liked Rachel and Gabe. And, while I am not the biggest fan of books that start with one of the characters not being honest with the other, I can usually get past it if it is handled well, and in this case it was handled well enough that I was able to believe the characters and their attraction to one another.

Unfortunately, the subplot of the player's club...and it being this secret society that no one talks about and the members don't even tell their wives...well, this just didn't ring true to me. At all. So, the whole idea that he was in charge of a secret society and she was trying to infiltrate it, for lack of a better phrase. And, each time the club was mentioned, I just felt that it was stretching reality and it pulled me out of the story.

I am not able to recommend this title. The characters were likeable and the writing was also strong, but the plot for this one was not one I was able to engage with.

This book was a lot cuter than I anticipated. Rachel, a spots writer for a big New York sports magazine, has been chasing an illusive story for years. So when the story leads her back to an old crush Gabe, the lines start to blur between a relationship and a source for the story. What starts as a one night stand turns into true feelings and when he becomes the main character of her story she quickly realizes that she can't have her relationship and her story.

Overall I thought this was cute. I love a sports romance. I thought it was well written, and the characters were really likeable. In all honest, I didn't think One Night Stand was an appropriate name for the book. It was such a small part of the story that was pretty insignificant. Overall 4 stars!

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest opinion.

This book was great! I’m not a sports gal at all but I really enjoyed the plot and found it really interesting. I thought because of the sports references/terminology I may be a little lost, but I was pleasantly surprised. This is like a romcom/ erotica mash up and I am here for it!!! Normally in romcom/chic lit books, the adult scenes don’t go into this much detail, and if they do, it’s only for the first scene and the rest just graze the surface. That is NOT the case with this book! Very detailed, and very steamy! There were also a lot of laugh out loud moments throughout the book. Gabe has such a fun personality and the banter with his buddies cracked me up. This is an incredibly well written book and it’s definitely a new favorite of mine!!!

This book follows the relationship between Rachel, a sports reporter, and Gabe a retired baseball player. The pair met in college but hadn’t spoken for years after they graduated. Until the night of the super bowl when they meet by chance and have an incredibly steamy and passionate one night stand. Now they’re back in each others lives and both keeping a secret from each other. Rachel’s secret - her long time investigative case is about an elite underground Players Club and she’s in Gabe’s city to try and expose the club. Gabe’s secret - he now runs the players club. The secrets they keep don’t stop them from building a relationship and having steamy adult times together..

Disclaimer: I got this book from @NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love that this is told from a guy's perspective- we need more books like this in YA!! Gabe retired recently and he's trying to adjust to life outside of baseball. He starts organizing events at the Player's Club. Rachel Adler is a reporter looking to make it big. Gabe and Rachel have a history, but Rachel tries to convince herself that she doesn't have time for a charismatic former baseball player until she finds out he has an inside scoop on one of the BIGGEST sports news story. Now she's got all the time in the world for him. How far is she willing to achieve her career goals and what happens when love gets in the way?
