This was always one of my favorites when I first read it as a kid, and rereading the series at now, I’m glad to say it’s still true.

I love the mystery of this book, love all the new characters that get introduced. It’s just a lot of fun, and gets really dark, even moreso than POA.

Perfeito!

I've seen this listed as the best of the Harry Potter series in places like Entertainment Weekly, but I've always rated it near the bottom. That being said, since this is J.K. Rowling, the bottom is still pretty darn good. I think I've always been thrown off-kilter by the section where Harry and Ron aren't speaking, and the Triwizard Tournament task don't have as much emotional resonance as other action in the series.

This is the first book where Rowling branches out into narrating events that Harry does not witness with the "Riddle House" chapter. I'm sure it threw me off the first time through, but now I enjoy those forays into other characters' minds. Rowling knows the story that she wants to tell, and she's not afraid to take chances to get there.

“It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be.”

Wow. I'm absolutely shook after reading this. I honestly hadn't expected for this story to get so dark towards the end. I love how much depth this story brought to the table, especially for Harry. I look forward to how J.K. Rowling will expand on everything in the next one.
