"There they were," she went on, "the stars. And he asked himself, my great-grandfather—that boy: 'What are they? What are they? And who am I?' as one does, sitting alone, with no one to talk to, looking at the star."
Seperti biasa, tulisannya Virginia Woolf padat dan seringkali susah dibaca [cries in non-native english speaker]. Baca sedikit aja kita bisa tau kalau Woolf itu isi kepalanya nggak pernah berhenti bekerja, sibuk memikirkan ini-itu, and thankfully she never hesitated to pour them all to her writing. Menurutku cerpen-cerpen di buku ini sangat cocok untuk yang pengen mulai baca karyanya Woolf tapi masih intimidated sama novel beliau yang lain because let's be real they're long as hell and i have the attention-span of a goldfish (percayalah aku udah coba baca Mrs Dalloway dan berhenti di paragraf kelima).
Judul-judul yang sangat kusuka di buku ini: A Haunted House, Kew Gardens, Lappin and Lappinova, The Lady in the Looking Glass, The Searchlight.

Lapin and Lapinova was the stand out in this collection for me.
