I really loved this book. Had me gasping and in tears and I love how the plot of the book isn’t just based around their romance like other books.

Oh my god. First of all, Alex…YUMMY. What a man. Secondly Ana Huang, you are a woman sent from heaven, destined to write stories and keep me on the edge of my seat. The amount of times I hit myself with the book out of anticipation, joy, sadness and all of the in between is more than I care to share. I LOVED the Easter eggs of the other characters and cannot wait to read the rest of the series!!!

Everyone say thank you Ana Huang!

dark emotional medium-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? Yes
  • Loveable characters? It's complicated
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I loved this book! The relationships, the plot twists, and the overall writing…so good.

4 stars because Alex can be a lil ummm…over dramatic 😂. Like, we don’t need to burn a person’s life to the ground because of an over cooked burger (exaggerated example, not in the book). Sometimes he’d say something and I’d just roll my eyes like “lol…okay. There goes Alex again being a drama king”. I still loved him though.

Ava and Alex are unlikely friends they can barely stand each other. When Ava's brother asks Alex to keep an eye on her they both get angry. Alex can't stand Ava's cheery personality, and Ava can't stand Alex's grumpy disposition. Ava's friends dare her to see if Alex is really a human that has feelings. By doing so she has to spend time with him. Will they fall in love or will something sinister keep them apart forever. An easy read I fell in love with Ava I still didn't like Alex by the end even though the author attempted to change your mind. What are your thoughts?

Let me be clear. This book was bad. Alex is actually psychotic, needs actual therapy and maybe (definitely) a jail sentence. He somehow knew details of the US national electrical code??? He calls himself a genius in every chapter??? He told Ava that she could try to get a restraining order but that “his friends in the English Government” wouldn't enforce it??? It did make me laugh, but not in a good way. File under “so bad it’s funny”.

I found Alex’s character to be uncomfortably controlling and it felt like there were too many different threads/parts to the overall story.

This started out pretty good, then had some WTF moments… I did the audio book, I didnt really like the male dialog spoken by the female narrator - but that seems to be a common theme for me. Not all audio books are created equal lol. It was a decent start to a series, ive heard book 2 is better so looking forward to that.
I’d let Alex stalk me with all my favorite things… and damnnnn he fucked up Madlyn lol

🌶️ 3/5 The spice was a bit of a slow burn, and it was ok… The grumpy-sunshine trop played out well together. I really like the tension of the
photo shoot, where she caught his expressions, being a photographer I could visualize the heat of this moment well - and it was hot.</spoiler
