Brutal Vows is the fourth and final book in the Queens and Monsters series. Unfortunately, it was my least favorite of the four. It was still a good book, I'm just disappointed that the series didn't end on a higher note.

This book begins with Spider, the mmc, meeting his young fiance he's arranged to be married to. Spider has made appearances throughout the series but most notably in book 3, when he was Riley's guard. Making Spider the final mmc was a questionable choice, in my opinion, when he was so obviously bested by the mmc in a previous book. We are also used to powerful men as the mmc, men who are at the top of the totem pole in their organizations. Spider....is not. Not that every mmc has to be, but he was an underwhelming character to have in the final book.

Reyna, our fmc, again pales in comparison to Sloane and Riley, who are both such interesting characters.  I didn't dislike her character, I just think she would have been better before or after Natalie, rather than after Sloane and Riley who both have so much personality.

There are many interesting events throughout the book, which made up for me not loving the characters as much as in previous books. I loved the ending for Reyna. It only made me wish, again, that her and Spider's story was sooner in the series so we could get updates on their "situation."

Overall, this is a good book, as I stated. I just think I would have enjoyed it more with some tweaks and set earlier in the series.
