Walk the Edge

This book was equally as thrilling and romantic as the first book in the series. In this book we have Razor and Breanna and from the start it is evident they are both from drastically different backgrounds but still there was still that instant attraction. I love how their relationship started, both of them needing one ano another but in between that they both got to know one another a little deeper.
I’d also like to express that I related so much with Breanna being the middle child because I myself is also the middle child. I related so much when her family was somewhat isolating and Breanna felt that she didn’t belong. It’s the middle child description in most cases and I was tearing up whenever Breanna was going through her thoughts and feelings.
Razor on the other side, he wasn’t irrational at all in my perspective. Being at the receiving end of a death is so hard and I loved seeing a lot of his relationships heal and open.
Ofcourse there were chapters also where we could see Emily and Oz after the 1st book and also Chevy and Violet (Excited to read book 3!!).
This book however showcased one again the Reign of Terror Motorcycle Club and how they are protective for their family. I loved how the Club was making an effort to bring Razor and Breanna together in the end and it was just the sweetest for me how it all worked out despite a few chapters before both Breanna and Razor was losing hope.
This book showcases also the effects of death and suicide to their love ones, I think that the characters gave me a new perspective on how and why people have such thoughts.

razor and breanna were cute. in the stereotypical trope-tastic way. i liked this well enough, in that i liked being in the world of the reign of terror again, and i found razor's backstory and developing trauma interesting. however, i didn't like breanna's story at all because i found her very hard to connect with and the way she dealt with kyle frustrated me.

the plot was okay but a bit convoluted. in terms of the relationship between razor and breanna, it developed fairly naturally which i appreciated.

Ridiculously amazing. I was so skeptical to read Razor's story, because he does not seem like the kind of guy you want to get to know in Nowhere But Here, but boy was I wrong. Him and Bre's story is absolutely amazing and I wish there was more. If you're on the fence about continuing this series, get down, because this series only gets better! I highly recommend you start this series immediately, and begin counting down the days with me until we can finally read Violet's story in book three.

We return once again to Kentucky, home to the Reign of Terror motorcycle club where trust, love and family matter more than anything. Breanna Miller is number 5 of a family of 9, but she is also the odd one out - she's invisible, she hides, but what she is is freakishly smart and people just don't know how to handle her apart from label her. She has a photographic memory although she doesn't like admitting to that. She gets twitchy when her brain can't shut down. It isn't her fault. So when she's stranded at orientation - the stuff of nightmares aka Razor of the Reign of Terror comes to her rescue. Thomas Turner aka Razor has always been the troublemaker of the group. But the day when a detective turns up on his doorstep about his mother, he's been having second thoughts. But not only does he rescue her, but they each rescue each other.

What I love about all Katie's novel is the sheer depth of them. Not just in one aspect but all - the plotline, the characters, the romance, the connection, the passion - family, trust, and honor. Through dual POV you really do get the bigger picture and I never for once did Katie's writing to disappoint me on that. I don't really know if I can put Breanna's and Razor's relationship into context. What I felt is an explosion of emotions right now, just know that your heart will beat that bit faster, you'll have butterflies in your stomach and your forever smiling throughout this book.

Reign of Terror is just the beginning of that, I sort of imagine them as a family tree as it just keeps on growing and growing, whether they are blood related or not. They are the source, of both the pain, the fear which transcends into love, happiness and most of all family. It's who they are, it's how Kate perceives their life to be that I find just magical. The Reign of Terror just keeps on evolving...

Another thing I loved was the integration of labels. We use them all the time without really realising it. They are harmless but they can also be poison. I think that what Katie explores through both the RoT as whole, Razor and through Breanna's character as well.

Katie McGarry is just one of those authors you will always love. I mean every year a new novel comes out and it's on the top of my most anticipated list. I'm always there reading it, I'm always loving it, and I'm always lusting after the bad boy. Katie creates a stonking smokin' read. What I found bizarre but in a good way. was that I tend to fall for her sequels. I did the same with her Pushing the Limit series, my ultimate favourite was Dare You Too and now I find myself that Walk the Edge will be the favourite of the Thunder Road series.

Honestly? Not my favourite Katie McGarry novel but I am so invested in this series. I love finally having a YA book that is based on a Motorcycle club environment. It's gritty and dark and dramatic, which is everything I love in a book.

Breanna was a likeable character, however, her family really put me off her all together. They were selfish and seemingly childish. It seemed like everything weighed down on Breana and that made her personality...dreary. When she gets with Razor, not everyone is okay with it. Which is understandable but I found that Breanna got to be the person she needed to be to survive. Just like Rachel after meeting Isaiah in Crash Into You.

The ending of the first book in this series was abrupt so I worried the same may happen in this book, but Katie McGarry gave Razor a beautiful ending. One that had a lot of meaning to himself and Olivia.

I would like to thank Harlequin Teen for providing me with a copy of this book to read and give an honest review. Receiving this book for free has in no way altered my opinion or review.

I am a huge fan of McGarry. I have read everything she has written. So it's no surprise I wanted to read this book. I will say, I really liked Nowhere But Here. It was classic McGarry style and really sunk it's teeth into me. So I had high hopes this one would do the same and it did not disappoint.

It was great to see Razor in a bit of a different light in this story. We didn't too much of him in the first book, so I really didn't know him. And I had no idea what to expect. Of course in typical McGarry fashion I fell for him immediately. Another broken boy who has many secrets to hide and doesn't want to reveal his true self to the world. I'm a sucker for the boy who seems so bad but has so much good underneath him. So much so that he struggles with the life he has chosen. I think my favorite thing about Razor was how fiercely loyal he is. And yet he struggles with this loyalty in order to find the truth and come to terms with his past.

Breanna is the good girl. One of nine siblings, she has expectations tossed upon her that she should not really have to shoulder. She's always put herself last. But now she wants to put herself first and it's not something her family is used to. She struggles to fit in and belong somewhere, anywhere. She's unlike other seventeen year olds because her brain sees things so differently than others. She's super smart but has a hard time shutting her brain off. I loved how McGarry made her vulnerable and naive yet willing to take a chance on something that's so outside of her box.

Can I tell you how I adore McGarry's way of doing romance. There's always so much build up. While you get this attraction between the two people, it's not them immediately falling head over heals. There is a slow burn to every romance she does. This build up is the thing that keeps me coming back to her books. I never feel like the characters have insta-love. I actually look forward to the way she creates relationships built on trust and longing.

And of course a romance would not be a romance if there wasn't conflict between the two main characters. Breanna and Razor come from two totally different worlds. They could not be more far apart in who they are or how they were raised. Yet this is really what brings them together. They are able to balance each other out. They learn so much from each other, including they are not truly who they always thought they were. That they have the ability to step outside their boxes and be someone they never thought they could be.

And we do get to see some of our most favorite characters from the first book, which is always nice. I love to watch the friendships between McGarry's characters. They are quite deep. I'm looking forward to more of their stories.

Overall McGarry once again gave me a story I was completely enthralled with. I enjoyed this one even more than the first one. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

Sooo much better than the first book!! The characters had way more depth to them and thete was a lot more character development going on. I also felt that in Walk the Edge there was more focus on the emotional aspect of a romantic relationship rather than the physical, lustful aspect (as was the case in Nowhere but here). Loved it!!!

I liked it and recommend it. I just didn't think it was super extraordinary.

I was not a big fan of the first one so I put the second in the series off for the longest time BUT FINE. YOU'VE GOT ME BACK. THIS WAS ADORABLE, FULL OF HEART, AND BARELY ANY SECOND HAND EMBARRASSMENT. I AM ONLY EMBARRASSED I SQUEALED SO MUCH OVER TWO TEENS FALLING IN LOVE AS A CYNICAL, COLD-HEARTED, TAX-DOING, ADULT. I LOVE KATIE MCGARRY AGAIN. ARE YOU HAPPY???
