Overall enjoyable book, took me FOREVER to get through it (my own lack of time) but I really felt pulled in.

There's a reason. I read this so fast. I just couldn't put it down.
No wonder when it said good for wheel of time/Brandon Sanderson fans, but wow, this was so me.
Loved this. Need to know more. So good.

Very obviously his first book and, as such, lacking some polish. Love the characters and pacing. Definitely suffers from a need to throw out fantasy words/names/places needlessly at times. The conflicting magic systems feel like a needless series of loopholes. Not amazing but not bad, will probably come back and finish the series at some point.
