I don’t even know what to say.

This book, while definitely a heavier fantasy than I typically go for (but probably still somewhat light for hardcore fantasy lovers) was full of twists, turns, friendships, heartbreak, and just all the things I love in a book.

I thought this was a solid start to a series that I cannot wait to dive further in to.

I feel like anything else I say could be a spoiler so I’m going to leave it at this. Please just trust me, this is an excellent book to get lost in.

On to book 2!

I could not put this book down, despite it's length I read it over three days as I just wanted to know what was going to happen.
It's definitely more plot driven than characters, not to say you're not invested in them, but it's more focused on the plot.
The world building is great too, though occasionally I may have to go back and check something as there are a lot of people and places introduced on the side which can be a lot.
It is a good book in itself, but it is definitely the setup for a trilogy.
Also I hope it gets better but some of the woman could be written a bit better, one jarring scene especially -

Davian suddenly seems obsessed with how pretty someone is, it's so out of place and definitely is a men writing women vibe which I wasn't a fan of.

Asha is great though :). Needed more of her development for sure.
Knocked off a small amount for the slight confusions and wishing it felt a bit like it's too much setup for later books. I did love this book and would highly recommend to anyone who likes plot based high fantasy with great world building.
