This was my first step into James Islingtons world.  I was hooked.  I was immediately drawn to the three main characters.  I enjoyed my time with the characters and feel in love with the journey Asha was on.  These characters actually had personality and were different from each other giving them strong voices.  I know that Brandon Sanderson inspired James, but I actually enjoyed James’s book more then Mistborn (which I DNF).

I felt like I didn’t really care much about any of the characters or what happened to them but it was alright…gonna try reading the next one bc why not
adventurous slow-paced

The dialog was cringey the entire way through, I wish I had kept count of how many times a character said "sorry, with the sound of true remorse in his voice." It started out pretty good and was entirely downhill from there. Also, this book could have been half its length.

If I didn't have to finish this for bookclub I absolutely wouldn't have.
