A list of things in this book that made me feel things:
- Ryland thinking of his kids and being a cool teacher (if I had a teacher like him I would probably understand the science speak he uses lmao)
-Rocky, I would die for him
-"You are friend"
-"Amaze Amaze Amaze"
-Ryland and Rocky saving each other
-the two scientist starting to bone, I can't explain but it made me laugh so much
-the guy who had to tell the army to nuke the North (South?) pole and broke down from the choice he had to make, I will stop using plastic for you, Mr. French climatologist
- Rocky naming the planet after his partner
-the aliens watching each other sleep to protect each other in this vulnerable state and Ryland missing it when he is gone
-the audiobook is really good and added to my enjoyment and my feeling of things
- *sniffs* humanity

A science-y, high stakes, the-world-is-ending-but-this-book-is-mostly-fun read.

Our main character wakes up with no idea who he is, where he is, or what he’s doing. A robot on the ceiling has been taking care of him for… how long? He’s actually not sure. As he slowly regains his memory, gets strong enough to get out of bed, and fashions bedsheets into a toga, he finds out that he’s the sole survivor of a space mission to save planet Earth. No pressure whatsoever.

He remembers his name is Ryland Grace and despite being the world’s only hope at survival, he has the humor and wit to deal with such a profound realization. As his memory continues to defog, the narrative floats between past and present to tell the story of how he’s gotten to where he is now and how he’s going to try to save the planet.

Project Hail Mary is sci-fi enough to be entertaining, doesn’t require the reader to actually understand the science and math of it all, and is an enjoyable adventure through space. Amaze!

I’m actually shocked I liked this. I did not think I would give a adult Syfy a five star. I just really enjoyed the characters and just getting to know them. There is one character that I love with my whole heart. This was also really funny, but at times sad because I did tear up a few times. It was interesting learning more about space. I’m not going to lie some parts went over my head because I didn’t fully understand them. I would highly recommend this and the audio book because of a certain character and the voice.
