Sigh. I went into this expecting a 5/5 but I couldn’t help leaving with the feeling that this would’ve been so much more enjoyable as a short story without the hundreds of pages of bad-humor-textbook. I also never really loved the main character. The inner monologuing fell short multiple times for every time it actually succeeded. Maybe sci fi just isn’t my jam, maybe Andy weir isn’t my jam; but unfortunately this one fell short of expectations for me.

Aw this was such a sweet read, I thought the ending was realistic and I loved the interactions between Grace and Rocky. Sometimes it was annoying to read "I'm gonna do science" but I appreciate the effort made to explain different parts of the science and maths behind a space journey like this. Could have been much shorter though

4.5 stars for the book but the audiobook version is easily a 5 star production. Such a fun read. Honestly enjoyed it more than the Martian. Really just a good time all around.
