This was an absolutely gorgeous book. Not my typical genre, but so compelling. Definitely a book I would like to buy and re-read.

I, like many, always struggle with rating biographies. This is an interesting mix of biographical storytelling, the author's own educational lessons in botany and conservation - intertwined with both native mythical storytelling and the trauma native Americans have suffered. Definitely a bit of a lull in the latter third of the book with the extended botany lesson, but overall a worthwhile listen.
